39) G Fighter My reckoning is that we've seen this before, but not really. G Fighter is, like its similarly-named counterpart two years its major, a side-scrolling space shooter. While G-Force Fighters separated itself from the rest of the games on the collection it's found is because the graphics look like some effort was put into them and it separates itself from every game previously made in its genre because it takes more than one hit to die, G Fighter removes both of these defining dynamics making it exactly like every other game on this collection while being a fiftieth-rate shooter with no stand out qualities. Graphically speaking, the game looks every bit the Action 52, although that scrolling star background is going to look mighty impressive if you've never seen a game made after 1988 or watched moving pictures from any decade. Gameplay wise, it's exactly like every other game like it here. Nothing really to laugh or shriek in horror at and plays well enough to believe this is what they were attempting to give at least a hint of competence, G Fighter's more pedestrian than the practice of putting the number 64 at the end of all your game titles. |
